There is just something comforting about a pot of apples slowly cooking on the stove. The smell of warm cinnamon filling the kitchen instantly makes a house feel like home. And if you’ve got apples sitting on the counter getting a little too soft, before the apples go bad… here is a quick and easy solution.
This homemade applesauce recipe has quickly become a favorite around here — cozy, sweet, and full of that old-fashioned homemade goodness we all love.
The best part? It only takes a few simple ingredients and comes together with very little effort. Around our house, it barely lasts long enough to even think about canning it. The boys and our granddaughter devoured a jar and a half the very first day!
Homemade Cinnamon Applesauce Recipe
Ingredients
6–8 apples, quartered or sliced
1/2 cup sugar (we love using brown sugar for a richer flavor)
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
Directions
Add all ingredients into a large pot.
Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the apples become soft and mushy.
Carefully pour the cooked apples into a blender.
Blend until you reach your desired texture — smooth or slightly chunky.
Pour into clean pint mason jars.
At this point, you can prepare the jars for water bath canning if you want shelf storage… but honestly, if your family is anything like mine, these jars may disappear long before then.
A Few Favorite Tips
Brown sugar gives the applesauce a deeper, cozy flavor.
Mix apple varieties for extra sweetness and depth.
Want it extra chunky? Blend only half the mixture and stir it back together.
This tastes amazing warm right off the stove.
From Our Home to Yours
Simple recipes like this remind me that some of the sweetest moments happen in ordinary kitchens. A simmering pot, little hands sneaking tastes from the spoon, and family gathered around asking for more — those are the moments that make home feel full.

Whether you store a few jars away for later or enjoy every spoonful fresh from the pot, I hope this recipe brings a little warmth and comfort to your home too.
